Focus on the Finish
How easily distracted we get! Face it - life is crazy and at times it's almost impossible to keep our focus where it needs to be. Women are known for being able to multitask, but sometimes it just doesn't work. How do we do all the things we need to do, and keep our focus on God? Join Deedy in discovering through scripture ways to battle the distractions of life, and learn how to focus on the things that really matter.
Storms of the soul can threaten the very core of our faith. Most of us have experienced difficult times in our lives and perhaps cried out to God, "Why?". During one of those times in my life I desperately searched for answers, and God's word faithfully spoke into my circumstance. Using the acronym "S.T.O.R.M.", I will share with your group the tools to find peace in the midst of the storms they may be facing as well.
This topic can also be done as a retreat.
We usually define "idolatry" as making anything in your life more important than God. We think as long as God is number one on our list, then we don't have idols, but that's not necessarily true. Just because we may not have a statue of Baal in our backyard does not mean we are free from idols. Idols can take many forms and even good things can become idols. When we allow idols to creep into our lives, hearts and minds, those idols, and the lies they tell us, begin to draw us away from God.
When we fall for idol lies, we begin to idolize. Discover how to identify existing idols, destroy them before they threaten your devotion to God, and protect yourself from future entrapment.
From dirt man was made, and to dirt we will return. But what about the in-between? In Luke 8, Jesus told a parable about a farmer scattering seed. The seed is God's message. The "seed" falls on the hard path, the rocky soil, thorny ground and the good soil. At different times in our lives and in varying circumstances, we all tend to be each kind of dirt. But what is your overall "soil" type? Dig into God's word with Deedy and discover what kind of "dirt" our lives are full of and how to make them fertile ground!
"And the Winner Is . . ."
Why is it we start out serving the Lord with gusto and before long feel ourselves fizzling out? We want to be faithful, one day hearing Him say, "Well done My good and faithful servant," but how often we feel we've fallen short. "Is this how it is for others, or is it just me?" we may ask ourselves. Our service may be in the church, volunteering in our community, working at our jobs, or most importantly, raising our families. Through personal stories and powerful truths from God's Word, Deedy shares with women ways she's discovered to overcome these feelings of short-fall and rely on God's promises to keep us going strong."
Buckled and Braced
Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light, but the loads we carry on us can be so overwhelming we can barely take another step. Come along side as Deedy shares truths from God's word to ease the burdens and shift them to the Lord, allowing Him to brace us up in our struggles. You will come away "braced" in God's word to carry on.
